There are lots of great web sites on the Internet for Communications students: sites of professional organizations, sites of career information, sites of communication resources, etc.    Below is a list of some useful/popular Communication sites.  This list is by no means comprehensive, so If you have additional sites you would like to add to this list, submit them: -->  jhickok@fullerton.edu

1. American Communications Association
    The professional association of Communications: info, news, writer's tools & reference, etc.

2. Communications Institute for Online Research (CIOS)
    An organization for Comm research: has a library of resources plus a Comm search engine
    that searches over 12,000 Comm-related web sites.

    sequences) & the Department of Speech Communication (Speech Communication &

1. American Advertising Federation
    This is the professional organization of advertisers.  The site has info, resources, links, etc.

2. Clio Awards web site
    Site of the annual Advertising awards.  Has an archive of past winners.

3. Advertising Law Resource Center
    A site, by a Advertising Law publishing company, offering many free reference sources 
   (quotes, articles, links, etc.) on legal information for
    the Advertising profession.

4. Ad*Access
    Visual website of images for over 7,000 advertisements printed in U.S. and Canadian
    newspapers and magazines between 1911 and 1955.  Maintained by Duke University.

1. Society of Professional Journalists
    Officical site of the oldest & largest professional organization for the field of Journalism.

2. National Press Club
    Established to foster the ethical standards of the profession; the site has news,
    career info, links, etc.

3. Pulitzer Prize web site
    The official site of the award-granting organization honoring excellence in journalism

4. Student Press Law Center
    The Student Press Law Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing legal help and
    information to the student media and journalism educators.

5. FAIR: Fairness in Accuracy and Reporting
    National media watch group on media bias, censorship, and stereotypes in the media

6. California Journalism Online
    This site is by the California Society of Newspaper Editors (& other organizations); it has great
    career info: salary surveys, "journalists toolbox", job bank, etc.

8. American Journalism Review Newslink
    This is an online newsletter about the Journalism industry. It is maintained by the University of Maryland Journalism Dept. Filled with articles, job info, links, and more.

9. Television News Archive
    (Vanderbilt Univ. archive of 30,000 TV news broadcasts going back over 10
    years, from all major networks: ABC,CBS,NBC,CNN).

    Official site of the largest professional organization for public relations practitioners.  Has
