Government Documents for the Arts and the Humanities & Social Sciences

The government collects valuable data for social science research, at the state and federal level. The government is mandated to collect certain information, or possesses the unique resources to do it. There is almost no subject for which you cannot find government information. For example:

  • Census of population: demographics
  • Consumer expenditure survey: buying habits
  • Crime and victimization surveys
  • Hearings and reports on current events and "hot topics" -- abortion, death penalty, immigration, etc.
  • Maps

Government documents are on the 3rd Floor of Library North or increasingly on the Internet.
