Next, determine the types of materials you will need to research your topic. You may want to check your syllabus or ask your instructor to help you determine which resources are best for you or are required for the assignment. Sometimes you may be required to find scholarly research in addition to other types of available information. You can obtain information from a variety of formats, such as those listed below:

  • Articles
  • Videos
  • Government Documents
  • Web sites
You may find that you need to use certain types of information, such as:
  • Statistics
  • Biographical Information
  • Personal Interviews
  • Photographs or Illustrations
