Donoghue Children's Literature Center

The Donoghue Children’s Literature Center, located on the north end of the AVCMC floor, is a showcase of the most current K-6 children’s literature that is award-winning and highly reviewed.  This center is open by appointment, with Education, CAS, Reading, and English students especially invited to visit.  Faculty may visit at any time or bring their classes; inquire at the AVCMC Desk.

The comfortable seating of the DCLC provides an inviting  atmosophere for reading

The books inside are for reading, previewing and evaluating, but may not be checked-out.  Duplicate copies--which may be checked out--often exist in the Juvenile section on this floor.  All books in the DCLC are searchable on the library’s online catalog (OPAC) with the location designation of “Child Lit Ctr.”

The interior design of the DCLC, by designer Laura Ridley, is an award winner from the American Society of Interior Designers, San Diego Chapter.

Books are selected from reviews in these professional review sources:
· Horn Book Magazine, · School Library Journal, · Booklist, · Horn Book Guide,
· Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books

Each book in the DCLC is affixed
with this distinguishing bookplate.

The Donoghue Children's Literature Center is open by appointment; please inquire at the AVCMC service desk, in-person or by calling (714) 278-2727.
