 | The Library Catalog uses Library of Congress Subject Headings
(LCSH). The Library Catalog may direct you from an incorrect to a correct LCSH, e.g.,
Ecosystems see Biotic communities. The
Library Catalog may also link you to related LCSH that you may wish to consult. |
 | Some valid LCSH for Biology include:
 | Predation Biology |
 | Wildlife management-- California |
 | Immunologic diseases |
 | Neurotransmitters |
|
 | If a subject search in the
Library Catalog doesn't find any
materials, try again using a keyword search. This may find you some relevant
materials, and you can then figure out what the correct subjects are and search again
to find everything on that topic.
 | Examples: "cancer causing agents" is not
a valid LCSH, but you can find relevant titles using those keywords and then
search valid LCSH "carcinogens". Similarly, searching the keyword
"titration" can lead to the valid LCSH "volumetric analysis". |
|
 | After you have a set of records on your topic, you can
choose to limit your search to get more relevant results, e.g., Material Type = Books,
Year of Publication = After 1995 |
