Finding the Journals
How can I tell if
Pollak Library subscribes to a journal?
top
- Print
or electronic access: At the
library home page, click on
Find Journals by Title and search by the journal
title. If we subscribe to the journal, in either paper
or electronic format, you'll find a record there. The record may link
you to the Library Catalog or to an electronic source.
- Print
version: At the
library home page, click on Library Catalog
and search by the journal title. The Library Catalog record will give the
dates of coverage and may also give a link to the electronic version of the
journal.
- Note: Be sure to
check the dates of coverage and location for each journal needed.
Where are paper copies located?
top
- Search the
Library Catalog by the journal title
to find out if we subscribe to a journal.
The Library Catalog record will
give the call number, location, and holdings for each
title owned in paper format. Be sure to check this information before
proceeding--the Library may not have every issue of the journal you
need.
- Most
journals,
those with the location PERIODICALS, are located on the 2d floor of
Pollak Library North.
- Journals with
a location COMPACT STACKS are located in the Basement of Library North.
- Journals with
a location DOCS/US are located on the 3rd floor of Library North.
Are any journal articles available electronically?
top
- To find
journals that can be accessed electronically, at the library home page click
on
Find Journals by Title and search by the journal title. Electronic coverage may be selective--the
electronic source may not include every issue or every article published in that journal.
- To access
library subscription databases, including full-text journals, you need to be
on campus OR to connect from off-campus through the proxy server. (HOW?)
What if I need an article that isn't available in Pollak
Library? top
- Articles not available
in print or electronically in Pollak Library can be requested through
ILLiad
(Interlibrary Loan). For information about Illiad,
weeks for delivery when requesting articles through ILLiad.
