Industry Surveys

Published annually by U. S. Bureau of the Census. For each 4-digit SIC industry gives county totals, in number of employees, payrolls, and number of establishments by employment size class. Includes finance, insurance, and real estate SIC categories that are not covered in the census itself.

U. S. Bureau of the Census publishes a series of monthly, quarterly, and annual Current Industrial Reports containing detailed statistics on about 5,000 manufactured products giving production, shipments, and inventories for specific products or industries to the 7-digit SIC number.

Encyclopedia of American Industry

Descriptions, projections, and statistics for almost every industry in the SIC handbook.  This is the place to look when you need information on a smaller industry.  Available online through the Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Global Market Information Database

Reports include analysis and forecasts for many sectors globally, regionally, and locally.

            Profiles, analysis, and statistics of 15+ industries and their companies.

           Profiles, analysis, and statistics relating to industries in North America.

Data presented here are index numbers relative to the price indexes of their respective industry groups.

Location: Business Tables or electronic databases

The most comprehensive source for industry information.  This source include basic analysis and current analysis on 20 industries with financial comparisons of the leading companies in each industry. A monthly "Trends & Projections" and "Earnings Supplement" are also included. The current year issues are on the Business Table B1. Prior years are in the Reference stacks.

this is the most important single source for current U. S. business statistics. It covers general business indicators, commodity prices; construction and real estate; domestic trade; foreign trade of the U. S.; labor force; employment and earnings; finance; transportation and communication; etc. Besides these regularly quoted statistics, special statistical reports appear at intervals. The best known is the annual "National Income and Product Accounts" issue.
