Dancer

This guide is to assist Dance majors at California State University Fullerton with library research.  Pollak Library has access to a wide variety of sources, both in print and online, which can be of assistance with your research. This guide includes a selective list of relevant reference sources, article databases, catalogs, sources of reviews, and web sites to help you find quality information quickly and effectively.  Explore the menu below to locate these sources and advice on how best to utilize these sources. The web site has been written by Cynthia Bruns, Reference Librarian, California State University Fullerton. Questions and comments are welcomed.

BOOKS Books are great source for biographies, historical perspectives, dance techniques, directing, vocation guidance and more. This link will take you to the Library Catalog, an online listing of everything this library owns, such as books, journals, magazines, videorecordings and sound recordings.
ARTICLES When you are looking for articles on a topic, you need an index to articles by subject. The library subscribes to many such indexes. Here you will find links to these indexes in the field of dance and performing arts.
JOURNALS Pollak Library subscribes to a number of journals, magazines and newspapers that would be of interest to students who are interested in dance.
REFERENCE Reference sources can give the researcher a quick overview on a topic, provide contact information on groups or individuals, offer vocational guidance, and more.
REVIEWS Performance reviews and book reviews can be found in a wide variety of sources. Click here for links to these sources of book and performance reviews, both historical and current.
WEB SITES It is true that everything can be found on the Internet but most of it is for sale. It is much more difficult to locate quality college-level information. Click here for advice on the evaluation and location of quality web sites and a listing of recommended Dance web sites.
RECORDINGS Pollak Library has a collection of both audio and visual recording that would be of interest to Dance students.  Investigate this link to find out where and how to access these resources.
