Education: BooksBooks can provide a good overview of a topic as well as in-depth information. A book often includes a bibliography or list of additional resources (other books, articles, etc.). Always note the date of a book. More current information may be available in periodical articles. To find books on your topic in the CSUF Library, use the Library Catalog. Search by author, title, subject, or keywords. Materials in this library are given Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). The Library Catalog may direct you from an incorrect to a correct LCSH, e.g., Bilingual Education see Education, Bilingual. The Library Catalog may also link you to related LCSH that you may wish to consult. Some valid LCSH for Education include:
For a complete list of LCSH, consult the most recent Library of Congress Subject Headings books or online list. Keyword searching can also be used in the Library Catalog to find relevant materials. For example, "collaborative learning" is not a valid LCSH, but you can find relevant titles using those keywords and then search valid LCSH "team learning approach in education" or "education-experimental methods." Once you find a book that matches your interest, you will find it on the shelf by CALL NUMBER. Materials in this library are classified and shelved by call numbers according to the Library of Congress Classification System.
