There are many web sites that contain information about Education.  Be aware that when using information from the Internet you will need to act as the reviewer since there are no rules governing what can be published there.

The Gateway to 21st Century Skills is a Consortium effort to provide educators with quick and easy access to thousands of educational resources found on various federal, state, university, non-profit, and commercial Internet sites.
 
bullet Calisphere
Calisphere is a free public gateway to thousands of digitized primary sources (e.g., photographs, documents, newspaper clippings, works of art) from University of California museums and libraries and other cultural heritage institutions across California. The site emphasis is to serve California teachers and librarians. See the Calisphere For Teachers page for detailed information.

This collection contains more than 2000 unique lesson plans which were written and submitted by teachers from all over the United States and the world.

Government Information Available Online

The following web sites are freely available to the general public. Searching these web sites retrieves reports published by government agencies such as the U.S. Dept. of Education and the California Dept. of Education.

American Educational Research Association Special Interest Group (AERA SIG) has made available this list of "electronic journals that are scholarly, peer-reviewed, full text and accessible without cost."
bullet Accreditation Status of Colleges and Universities

Postsecondary Educational Institutions and Programs Accredited by Accrediting Agencies and State Approval Agencies Recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education (January 2005) [U.S. Dept. of Education]
The database lists approximately 6,900 postsecondary educational institutions and programs, each of which is accredited by an accrediting agency or state approval agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a “reliable authority as to the quality of postsecondary education” within the meaning of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA).
