Tutorial 1: Evaluating Secondary Sources

The author's credentials

One way to evaluate a book or article is to know something about the credentials and level of expertise of the author. Sometimes the author's credentials can be found in the book or article itself. Other times, you may have to hunt out the author's credentials in standard reference works like, Who's Who, the National Faculty Directory, or the Directory of American Scholars.

Roll over the parts of the International Who's Who entry that speak to the author's credentials.
