Tutorial 2: Using a Style Manual

Turabian

A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (better known as Turabian after the author, Kate L. Turabian) is the style manual most commonly used by history majors. History students use the humanities style of citation, rather than the parenthetical (author-date) style prevalent in the social and natural sciences.

Turabian is a simplified version of the Chicago Manual of Style. History students encountering questions not answered by Turabian should turn to the Chicago Manual of Style for guidance.
