Lost? Wondering how to get started on your homework or paper? Welcome to Library Survival Skills. Using this interactive tutorial, we'll show you what's available in Pollak Library and how to find it.

When you are finished you will know how to:

Find the library physically and electronically (via the Internet)

Know what the Library Catalog is and how to find:
bullet

a book by title, author or subject/keyword

bullet

a journal/periodical article starting from a citation or abstract

bullet

Know what an index is and when and how to use one 

bullet

Distinguish between popular magazines and scholarly journals

bullet

Access electronic databases to:

find articles using subjects or keywords 

bullet

read and understand a citation, abstract, and fulltext search result

Evaluate web sites
