Kinesiology: Books

Books can provide a good overview of a topic, as well as in-depth information.  A book often includes a bibliography or list of additional resources (other books, articles, etc.).

Always note the date of a book.   More current information may be available in periodical articles. To find books on your topic in the CSUF Library, use the Online Catalog.   Search by author, title, subject, or keywords.  Materials in this library are given Library of Congress Subject Headings (for examples see LCSH).  Materials in this library are classified and shelved by call numbers according to the Library of Congress classification system. The main areas of interest for Kinesiology students are:

  • GV -- Recreation, including physical education, training and sports.

  • QP -- Physiology

  • RC 1200 -- Sports medicine

To locate and borrow books from other libraries first try Link+ and request items online.  Other Library catalogs, such as the University of California's Melvyl, can be found from the Find Books & More page.  Materials found there can be requested through InterLibrary Loan, either Link+ or ILLiad
