Kinesiology and Health
Promotion: FAQ
- Can I search for articles within a
particular journal using the article databases?
- Usually this is possible if a
journal is indexed by a database, although techniques may vary:
- Factiva:
Search the
Publications Library. Scroll down and click on Change Publications
button. Click on Remove All, to remove the default search choices.
Look up the publication and then select it from the results box and click
add. Click done.
-
SportDiscus, Academic Search Elite:
Specify the journal on the search screen, e.g.,
Source: Research Quarterly for Exercise
and Sport.
- ERIC
(FirstSearch): Use
the advanced search option and search or browse the journal name in the
Source (exact phrase) index or the Source (keyword) index. You can
add a subject using the other search boxes, or go back to the Search
screen and click on History to combine sets.
- Lexis/Nexis: Look
for the journal name in the Sources list linked from the first
page. You will then be given an option to search just this
title.
- PubMed: Use the
Journal Browser and enter the name of the journal. Click
on the hyperlinked Medline Abbreviation to make a set of all
articles from this journal. This set can then be combined with
subject searches using the History link.
