Science Education: Books

How can I tell if Pollak Library has a
particular book, document, journal, etc.?
 | Use the
LibraryCatalog
to search for the title of the book or the author. For journals,
search the journal title and then look at the LIB HAS information to see
which issues are owned. |

What if I want
to browse books or other materials in Pollak Library?
 | Most materials in this library, with the
exception of government documents, are classified and shelved by call
numbers according to the Library
of Congress classification system. |
 | The general call number for Education is
L and books with that call number are located on the 5th
floor of Pollak Library South (MAP) |
 | The general call number for Science is Q
and books with that call number are located on the 4th floor of Pollak
Library South (MAP) |
 | Journals are usually located on the 2d
floor of Pollak Library North (MAP) |

What books or
other materials does the Pollak Library have on my topic?
 | The Library Catalog uses Library of Congress Subject
Headings (LCSH). The Library Catalog may direct you from an incorrect to a
correct LCSH, e.g., Discovery learning see
Learning by discovery. The
Library Catalog may also link you to related LCSH that you may wish to
consult. |
 | Some valid LCSH for Science Education
include:
 | Science -- Study and Teaching |
 | Evolution -- Study and Teaching |
 | Group Work in Education |
 | Women in Mathematics |
|
 | If a subject search in the
LibraryCatalog doesn't find
any materials, try again using a keyword search. This may find you
some relevant materials, and you can then figure out some relevant LCSH and
search again to find everything on that topic. |
 | After you have a set of records on your
topic, you can choose to limit your search to get more relevant results,
e.g., Material Type = Kits & Graphics, Where item is located = CMC
(Curriculum Materials Center) |

How can I get a copy of
something Pollak Library does not own?
