Reference Sources
The reference books are kept on the first floor of
Pollak Library, North Wing. They consist of dictionaries, encyclopedias,
handbooks, almanacs, directories, and more. A small selection of the
recent Reference books which might be of special interest to the Theater student
are listed below. Reference books are especially useful as a quick look-up, an
explanation of theory, for contact information and are a great source of ideas
for papers
Dictionaries and Encyclopedias
Dictionaries and encyclopedias are
basically the same thing, a subject listing arranged alphabetically.
These sources can serve the use as a quick look-up of a fact, a basic
explanation of the theory and are a great source of ideas for research papers.
Research Guides
This type of book will offer advice and
assistance during the research process. It will lead the student through
issues such as choosing a topic, doing the research and writing the paper in
the correct style.
Handbooks and Almanacs
Handbooks and almanacs will offer specific practical on a specific area of
study.
Vocational Guidance
You will find that the library has a wide
range of sources that can give the user advice on developing a career and
offering assistance during the job search.
Biographical Information
These sources can offer brief information
on individuals, both living and dead.
Monologues
These books offer sources of monologues and audition speeches.
Directories
Directories will list
people and places, combined with the contact information.
